At the Minting Bureau (Part 2)

Apr. 30, 2019 File.62

Since it is a ten minute train ride from our company’s nearest station Mitejima (JR Tozai) to Osaka-Tenmangu, the nearest station from the minting bureau, we decided to visit the minting bureau again at the evening.
This is where our night discovery begins. For your information, visiting via train is better than via car at night due to special charge and parking areas being full.

The Tenma Bridge and some cherry trees are seeing the tiny boat off.

Twenty past eight, and the second party began.

Though the congestion may be calmer than noon, the central entrance was very crowded.

The warm lighting creates a relaxing mood.

It is best to wander around the right shortcut if you want to take a glimpse at Osaka castle while enjoying at the booth beneath the cherry trees.

The shortcut then leads to the main route, but the party was still loud even after the announcement about the south gate closing.

At the opposite side of the minting museum placed a monument of the minting bureau celebrating its hundred twenty fifth year. However, this monument was installed in 1996, and since the minting bureau was founded in 1871, the minting bureau has made its hundred forty eighth year to be precise.

At the minting museum (formerly a thermal power plant as of 1911), people were taking selfies and so on.

We skipped the minting museum due to heavy congestion, but after the closure of the south gate, we got a chance to relax.

Since we had plenty with all of the wonderful scenery the minting bureau showed us, being decorated by many cherry trees, we decided to head out north.

At the center of the minting bureau, there is a former main gate erected in 1871. In addition, the cherry tree party started in 1883, so this ritual has been a thing for a hundred thirty six years. No wonder this event has depth.

The announcement of the north gate closing spurred us to hurry.

We arrived at the north gate.

In front of the north gate stands an information about being selected as one of the hundred cherry sites.

Also, a brief info about the cherry party is in front of the north gate. The signboard describes the history of the party and the number of the cherry trees.

After we got out of the north gate, we ended our journey safely.

The party was still crying with joy even past nine. By the way, we got to see an iconic spiral stair as well. What’s special about the stair is that it’s made out of bricks.

Whew! That was a long story!
